Assistant Manager – Yummy Pub Co.
To all you lovely supervisors out there, current assistant managers and people that just want to give it a shot, we have an opportunity for you to become an assistant manager of one of our top class sites – The Somers Town Coffee House, tucked away down a leafy lane between London Euston and London St Pancras. It’s a position we would normally fill with internal promotion, but we have had a lot of movement in the past few weeks promoting a host of our team across Yummy so we’re heading external to fill the role. It’s a real gem of an opportunity to get into YPC.
About the role
The Somers Town Coffee House is totally unique. It’s not a coffee house, but a fantastic oak clad London gem. Since we’ve owned it we have totally transformed the business. It now houses four secret meeting and dining rooms, a speakeasy cocktail bar and a stunning traditional pub with some twists.
Although tucked away, we are very, very, very busy. We trade from 8am – 2am most days of the week and have an excellent reputation with both consumers and the trade.
You will report directly into Ash, our talented GM and be part of his management team working with the various supervisors in the pub, the cosy team and be responsible for driving the Somers Town forwards. We have a cracking team of people in the pub, diverse and talented across a whole range of professions. We work to an ethos of work hard, play hard in Yummy, it’s a important to us to have a laugh as it is to crack on with the job in hand, we normally do them both together.
We’re a people business
We don’t judge people on their CV’s, whilst important it’s the character and experience we are looking for in this role. You will be a role model in our business, capable of inspiring a large team both front of house and back of house to drive the business forwards.
People are what makes Yummy stand out from the crowd, we are a teeny, tiny, boutique pub co with six sites. As the owners we are hugely hands on, we love to see the business grow and get excited by being at the heartbeat of the business.
We have an award winning training and development scheme in Yummy which is both on line and off line learning. There are seven stages to the academy and our aim is to train you to leave, look after and nurture you so you won’t want too. That said, I will be telling you to leave after 18 months or develop further in Yummy. It’s my timeline to keep everyone in the business focused. We started Yummy with a passion, some skills and a desire to challenge the perceptions of what a pub could become. Six pubs in, we’re only just beginning to see our ideas come to life from cinemas in basements to hidden meeting rooms behind bookshelves, to retail shops selling everything in the pub to take home, it’s a really exciting time to be in Yummy right now.
If you want to find out more about us search for us online, we’ll pop up. If you want to know more about the job apply, it’s a simple as that! If we think you could be Yummy and fit with our amazing team we will be in touch to arrange for you to pop in and see us, grab a cuppa and a biscuit and see if Yummy could feel like home. I have an amazing management structure who are all there to see you develop and be given the opportunities to shine.
It’s a 50/50 relationship in Yummy, we give you 50% by paying you well, treating you well, giving you free access to industry leading training, a great fun place to work and innovation.
The 50% you need to bring to the table is a desire to drive yourself forwards by taking advantage of everything we provide in our 50%.
So, if you’ve read this and thinking, ‘give it a shot’ do, nothing in life is gained by not taking risks. If you’re reading this and think maybe it’s too soon for you for this role, still apply to Yummy, we’re always looking for talent and if that means we have to wait or we have a different role somewhere else available in the business we would love to hear from you.
Thanks for reading the above, come and take a look at what we do in Yummy, it’s a cracking place to be.

P.s If you’re wondering what the Lego character thing is all about, we think it’s more fun to have everyone in Yummy as a Lego character as opposed to a number. After level 3 on the academy you get to choose your own character and we have it made for you…
