Today is Day 3 of Springboard's Front of House Festival, themed: Leisure and Tourism Visitor Services. The Front of House Festival, which takes place from 17-21 October, aims to raise the profile of job opportunities in front of house and the waiting profession, as well as the career paths, progression routes and great rewards on offer (Source: Careerscope).
In celebration of this day, inploi has decided to raise awareness about the work/travel opportunities for non-UK youth. These work/travel opportunities are often in the leisure and tourism sector, which includes work at chalets, resorts and theme parks. Work/travel opportunities are often being taken up as part of a gap year or to obtain work experience, whilst providing amazing travel possibilities due to the flexibility of work hours.
Whilst limited work/travel opportunities exist for nationalities outside of the European Union, some nationalities do qualify. According to The Global Work & Travel Co. the following criteria exists:
- Aged 18-30
- Citizen of eligible country
- No criminals convictions
- No serious driving offences

- Evidence of sufficient funds
According to the UK Visa Bureau's website, the following countries qualify: Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Japan, Monaco, Taiwan
The Visa that needs to be applied for is called the Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme, and replaces the previous UK Working Holiday Visa programme. Qualifying individuals can live in the UK for up to two years.
